‘Woodsy’ was an early stalwart of the South Dublin Swans, helping to establish the club in 2006 and assisting in their early drive towards success, both as a committed coach on the training ground and hard-working rover on the playing field. The Wodonga native had previously played for the South Dublin Eagles and despite being one of the smaller players to play for the Swans he was undoubtedly one of the toughest. He was ever present in the 2006 Swans premiership winning side, never missing a game or training session. He earned the ‘Most Valuable Player’ award at the prestigious 2006 Scania Cup in Sweden with a series of hard-running displays, something he replicated every time he pulled on a Swans jumper.
